I've finished my app! This is an editorial which is a recipe book app for an extension of my Hobnob packaging. Using my playful rebrand of Hobnobs I wanted to create a fun recipe book which took on the style and feel of the rebrand.

This is the first draft of my editorial which is a recipe book app for an extension of my Hobnob packaging. Using my playful rebrand of Hobnobs I wanted to create a fun recipe book which took on the style and feel of the rebrand.

There will no doubt be some changes to be made as well as a main feature to be added which add some interactivity into the app. For example when you're given the bowl and told to "mix it up" you can use your finger to stir up the type inside the bowl. These interactive pieces will be on each step of the recipe.

Given the chance to add more to the app I am going to add a "Guide to Hobnobbing" section which contains the etiquette of "Hobnobbing" with fun interactive pieces like in the recipe.

Magnificent Obsessions: The Artist as Collector. First project of my third year to design a poster for an event of my choice. The idea is about the process of the artist turning the obsessions of a horde into something magnificent, ordered and beautiful. I have some changed to make but this is the final product for now.

I enjoy typographic experimentation so i've been working on a number of modular types. I create a set of rules and parameters in which to create a typeface and then I see what I can create out of what i've given myself. Some of them work well and others not so well however it's all part of the process.

I feel i'm going to be making a lot more of these and hopefully i'll find places to use them in the future.

This typeface was made using an octagon with triangle segments within.

This typeface was created using a target structure and was the first in the series of typefaces i'm making. I felt like leaving the structure behind the letters gave the typeface a more interesting look.

These two typefaces followed the same structure however they both have separate looks. I like the look of them apart from the V in Flower One. This V caused me lots of troubles and it doesn't look like it belongs as it doesn't have enough white space within. They both follow a pattern of flower petals hence the name.

This typeface was my first attempt to create letters with ascenders and descenders which followed a structure of three circles on top of each other. I felt this went well apart from a couple of letters (V, Z). This typeface is what I'm currently using in my jn logo.

I occasionally have to break the rules when I can't get things to work such as with the M and W in this typeface.

I realised I hadn't uploaded the final versions of Crab Pot so here they are. We didn't win the competition but we were awarded a Merit for our efforts (http://www.carterwongdesign.com/black-sheep/). These were our presentation boards.

This is the first project from BA5. This was for the Carter Wong design brief: "The Black Sheep Awards". The brief was to come up with a way of promoting crabs to be eaten more in the UK.
The brown crab isn’t exactly the most attractive sea creature out there plus they are incredible tricky to prepare and cook without the skills to do so. We wanted to create a product to tackle these issues.

The brown crab has a oval carapace with characteristic “pie crust” edge. We followed this idea and created a crab pie. This would resolve the issues of preparing the crab and the unattractiveness of the crab. We named the product “Crab Pot”.

A Crab Pot is used to bait, lure, and catch crabs in crabbing.
The packaging for the pie was then made to look like a crab pot, which contains the pie that is shaped to resemble a crab.
